From September 23 to 26, the 3rd National Master Craftsmen Innovation Exchange Conference and Forum, themed “Crafting Dreams with Ingenuity, Moving Toward the New,” was held in Chongqing, where the 2025 National Master Craftsman recognition results were announced. Four outstanding professionals from Shandong Heavy Industry were honored and invited to the forum to showcase their innovative achievements: Diao Tongwu, Fixture Maintenance Worker, Senior Engineer, and Chief Technician at Sinotruk Jinan Truck Co., Ltd.; Tang Haiwei, Component Testing Technician and Chief Technician at the Product Testing Center, Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd.; Cai Rong, Master Technician and Overhaul Electrician at the Maintenance Workshop, Shaanxi Fast Auto Drive Group Co., Ltd.; Fan Fan, Engineer and Senior Technician at the Body Factory Assembly and Welding Support Workshop, Shaanxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd. This recognition follows that of Wang Shujun, another National Master Craftsman from the Group, marking yet another prestigious honor for Shandong Heavy Industry and highlighting its ongoing dedication to craftsmanship excellence and talent development.

Diao Tongwu has remained dedicated to front-line production for 26 years, relentlessly honing his craft and mastering advanced techniques to overcome complex challenges in cab welding technology. With his exceptional precision and keen eye for detail, he can instantly identify design flaws in various tooling schemes. Leveraging his superb technical expertise, Diao has led and participated in multiple innovation projects, including the development and construction of welding lines for the HOWO, T7H, T5G, “New Yellow River,” and MAX cab models. Notably, he played a key role in leading the R&D design, process control analysis, production line planning and validation, as well as product verification and pilot production of the “New Yellow River” intelligent cab—an achievement representing the highest level of innovation in China’s heavy-duty truck industry. Diao’s outstanding contributions have greatly advanced the revitalization of China’s national heavy-truck brands. He has been recognized with numerous honors, including the titles of National Model Worker, National May Day Labor Medalist, and National Technical Expert, and he enjoys a special government allowance from the State Council.
Tang Haiwei is a leading figure in internal combustion engine and component testing technologies, and a pioneer in high-temperature dynamic measurement of engine moving parts in China. Over the past 25 years, he has devoted himself to the research and application of cutting-edge testing technologies for internal combustion engines. Through focused dedication and rigorous innovation, Tang has made significant breakthroughs in the measurement technologies for high-temperature components such as key heat-loaded parts, moving assemblies, and friction pairs. Several of his achievements are global industry firsts, positioning his work at the forefront of international standards. His innovations have supported the development of internal combustion engines with thermal efficiency exceeding 50%, marking a major contribution to advancing China’s engine technology. With outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment, Tang has become a true embodiment of Weichai’s spirit of craftsmanship and innovation. He has been honored with numerous accolades, including the “National May Day Labor Medal” and the title of “Luban Master Craftsman ”, and receives a special government allowance from the State Council.
Fan Fan has devoted 23 years to front-line heavy truck welding production, mastering advanced technologies including industrial robot operation and maintenance, as well as intelligent manufacturing. She has participated in and led key equipment technology upgrade projects, achieving remarkable results in reducing equipment failure rates, ensuring operational safety, improving production efficiency, and advancing electrical automation transformations. Over her career, Fan has accumulated 44 R&D innovations, received five provincial-level or higher awards, filed more than 10 patents, and authored over 10 exemplary work standards. She has also been honored with the “National May Day Labor Medal”, demonstrating the excellence and dedication of a modern industrial worker.
Cai Rong has spent 14 years on the front line of equipment maintenance, exemplifying the craftsman spirit of “dedicating a lifetime to one pursuit.” Since joining the company, she has completed over 800 major equipment overhauls, solved more than 600 on-site maintenance challenges, and led the renovation and functional upgrading of over 30 aging machine tools. She innovatively applied Renishaw laser interferometry for precision testing and compensation on more than 400 pieces of equipment, establishing a preventive maintenance system that has significantly reduced critical equipment failures, earning her the reputation as the company’s “stabilizing anchor” for smooth operations. As a part-time corporate trainer, Cai Rong has transformed her hands-on experience into teaching resources, leading the preparation of over 400 equipment maintenance manuals and delivering more than 200 hours of training annually. She has been honored with the National March 8th Red-Banner Holder award and enjoys a special government allowance from the State Council, embodying the exemplary spirit of a modern master technician.
As of now, Shandong Heavy Industry Group boasts 247 provincial-level or higher talents, including five National Master Craftsmen, two recipients of the China Skills Award, seven National Technical Experts, and one National Young Post Technician.
